A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING MISS JENNIFER RUTH REEL OF OLIVE BRANCH, MISSISSIPPI, ON BEING NAMED TO THE TOP TEN IN THE MISS TEEN USA PAGEANT.

WHEREAS, Miss Jennifer Ruth Reel, a native of Olive Branch, Mississippi, placed as a top ten finalist in the nationally televised Miss Teen USA Pageant in August 1998; and

WHEREAS, before traveling to the national competition, Miss Reel competed in the state pageant, where she won the title Miss Mississippi Teen USA in June 1998; and

WHEREAS, Miss Reel, the seventeen-year-old daughter of Tommy and Vicky Reel, is currently a senior attending Olive Branch High School; and

WHEREAS, actively involved in several clubs and associations, Miss Reel is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Students and Athletes, the Interact Club, the Drama Club, the Spanish Club and the varsity cheerleader squad; and

WHEREAS, Miss Reel's dedication to her academics has been evidenced by honors such as the Rotary Youth Leadership Award, membership in the National Honor Society and awards in art illustration and foreign language; and

WHEREAS, in addition to her academics and her extracurricular activities, Miss Reel enjoys spending time singing in her church youth choir, snow skiing, gymnastics, tutoring and participating in Quistor Voices, a school news program; and

WHEREAS, the Legislature finds it most appropriate to pay special tribute to such a remarkable young lady as Miss Jennifer Ruth Reel, a great pride to our state, for her outstanding representation during her reign as Miss Mississippi Teen USA:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend Miss Mississippi Teen USA, Miss Jennifer Ruth Reel, whose reign has brought honor and recognition to Mississippi and congratulate her for being named as a finalist in the top ten of the Miss Teen USA pageant.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That we do hereby express to Miss Reel our appreciation for her dedication to this state and extend our heartiest wishes to her for success in all her future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Miss Reel and the Capitol Press Corps.
